Timothy Hay Supplier

Hey, I was wondering if any of you had heard of www.FarmerDave.biz? They are an organic farm that sells timothy and clover hay. They also have an organic apple orchard and sell apple treats for bunnies and apple butter (and other jams) for people. :)

I know we had that problem with Oxbow, but I am tired of buying my hay from Petsmart. :p

I already contacted FarmerDave and they do not have a feed analysis available, but say they have never had any complaints. So if anyone has heard anything about them (or other affordable hay providers) please let me know.

Thanks,
Cassie

We were sent a very small sample of hay (maybe 1/2 cup) from Farmer Dave about a year ago. We didn't order from them though. Don't know anyone who has. We ordered from Bunnybale a couple of times. We can't afford Pet Diner. Wish we could though, because they test their hay regularly.

I have seen lots of different hay for sale on ebay. Farmer dave included. I have never tried so I dont know about the quality. I know some Wal Mart sell Kaytee. They at least put an expiraton date on their hay.

I have tried quite a few different brands of timothy hay, but my bunnies are only impressed with bunnybale. Even Dandi who I always had problems convincing of the value of hay, loves it.

I guess we are fortunate because we live where lots of hay is grown and sold in bales and we get one and store it out in the garage and keep it covered up and it works good. We also have a couple "barn" cats, so no mice or etc. live in the bale!!

I haven't tried Farmer Dave, but I think I heard someone mention it, so I'll check around. I just ordered my second box from bunnybale.com. My boys really seem to like it and it's reasonably priced. They don't test their hay either, but it seems there are very few that do. Plus the 25 lbs box makes for a good clubhouse when all the hay is gone. :)

Here's a comment from a bunny mom I know from our local group forum:

"I have read conflicting reports about Farmer Dave on some of the rabbit forums. Some people love their hay, and others were not so impressed. We have also tried the Sweet Meadow Farms hay (in MA)."

Someone also mentioned Kleenmama's Hayloft (http://www.kmshayloft.com), but I'm not confident about the source of this info, and I don't know anybody else who's tried it.

Thanks Guys!

I think the consensus is BunnyBale so we will give that a try and see how it goes.
