Worldwide Rabbit Love + Appreciation Day!

24 Carrot Lane Proclaims First Annual Worldwide Rabbit Love +
Appreciation Day on Friday, August 24th, 2007 - finally a special day for rabbits!

It is all about encouraging rabbit parents everywhere to do their small part to spread the word about responsible rabbit guardianship, to let others know how intelligent and affectionate rabbits can be, and to remind everyone that they CAN make a difference for the better, which will ultimately help to reduce the number of rabbits surrendered to shelters. Tania of 24 carrot lane has several suggestions on how you can do you a bit of good where you are, in honor of rabbits everywhere. Your suggestions are welcome, too.

Check it out the following link for more information:

Rachael, bunny of the month

Hey y'all,

my name is Rachael, and I just saw that I am the bunny of the month! Yeahy, so will somebody finally pay attention to me? Well, okay, the humans around here are very loving, but they are soooo busy that they never have much time for a thorough cuddling session... At first, I may get a little spooked when I don't notice them approaching, but when they pet my nose, I turn into a real "pancake bunny" and soak up the love.

The humans here keep telling me that I am a very pretty girl and so gentle and sweet-natured and laid back. I came from Texas with a bunch of other bunnies about a year ago, and I have been waiting for so long to find a permanent home with friendly humans who dote on me. I can give you so much in return!
Rachael

By the way, can I eat this flower??

Online Petition Asking Petsmart NOT to Start Selling House Rabbits

I got this email from http://www.bestfriends.org, & thought it would be of interest to us all:

------------------------------------------------------------

"Dear Friend,
After years of supporting pet rescue organizations by allowing the set up of adoption satellites in PetSmart stores across the nation, PetSmart has made the decision to sell house rabbits. This is a dilemma to rescue and humane organizations everywhere. Best Friends joins other animal welfare organizations by asking for your support. Ask PetSmart to do the right thing for all homeless animals by only allowing adoptions of homeless rabbits in PetSmart stores. Our voice is not enough. We need you the member, the consumer, to let PetSmart know what you think. We ask you to send this to three friends and family members. Help us ask PetSmart's President and Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Robert Moran to reconsider this decision. "

Sponsor a Bunny

Make a Difference - Sponsor a Bunny!

For your gift of just around $.12 a day, $45 a year you can make a big difference in the life of one of the Heartland rabbits. Our special needs bunnies, for example, handicapped little Sprouti ...

arthritis-stricken Hazel ...

Party-Barty with his splayed hind legs ...

or Albright with a persistent eye infection ...

... can usually not be adopted out because of their illness, old age, or disability and stay at our shelter permanently. They require extra care and often expensive medical treatment; your sponsorship would help us tremendously to make their lives comfortable and enjoyable.
Of course, our healthy, adoptable bunnies would also love to be your sponsor bunny, and your gift of sponsoring will go to vet bills, food, toys, and education and adoption campaigns.

You will receive a lovely sponsorship certificate, a 5x7 inch photo, and a refrigerator magnet with your sponsor bunny's picture. On top of it, your bunny will send you a Christmas card and at least two updates on his well-being during the year of your sponsorship.

If you find it in your heart to make a bunny happy, please visit www.heartlandrabbitrescue.org/help.htm#sponsor

Sponsorships also make a wonderful gift for other bunny people!
